Originally at the start of its days, the light novel was published online on novel publication sites, before being acquired by ASCII Media Works who published the series with illustrations.
However, With its plot gaining growing popularity, the light novel received its manga adaptation and was serialized in Kodansha’s Monthly Shōnen Magazine in March 2021.
As of June 2024, the novel has been collected into four manga volumes. Shortly after, Ishura acquired its anime adaptation and aired from January to March 2024.

Plot
The king of demons is dead and has been dead for how long, no one knows. However, despite the death of the lord of the demons, hosts of ‘Shuras’, demi-god-like people have the free will to do whatever they want, without the control of an upper body to keep them and their actions at bay and accountable.
Meanwhile, some Shuras aim to become conquerers, and some are indifferent to the world and have long become wanderers with no certain goal in mind.
However, one thing continues to plague the minds of even those who feign indifference. Who was the one, true hero that was able to slay the King of Demons, and why is his identity still plagued by mysteries and a blank slate?
