New Delhi: Fantasy is a common revolving trope in the anime community, whether it’s consumed by the audience mixed in with the genres of romance or thriller, Fantasy alone stands as a common yet beloved trope that if mixed in with the right plot and themes is no doubt going to outshine any other.
Light novels commonly use the tropes of fantasy in their works, but what if this specific light novel turned anime in general expertly crafts together an action-filled fantasy world that keeps in the elements of war that appeal to the viewer?
Centered around the imperfect copy of the Grail War, Fate/strange Fake is the soon-to-arrive light novel now being adapted into a series this November with its first episode, and second episode being released on the 31st of December as an after-Christmas present for long-time fans and new anime viewers alike.
Origin of the series
Fate/strange Fake is a Japanese light novel series in Type-Moon’s Fate franchise, written by Ryōgo Narita and illustrated by Morii Shizuki.
The story was promoted as a prologue and role-playing style game as an April Fool’s prank.
The text was taken down after April Fool’s Day ended, however, the concept was later introduced in the form of a novel as an extra given with the magazine TYPE-MOON Ace 2 in 2009.
With a declared announcement in 2014, it informed fans of the series and anime fans alike that the series would soon release a manga and anime adaptation series. Following the announcement, a brief trailer was released. An anime television film series premiered in July 2023 with the title of Fate/strange Fake: Whispers of Dawn.
Episode 1 received of the series was granted an advance release on Crunchyroll’s YouTube channel on November 23, 2024.
What Happened in Episode 1?
The story centers around a Grail War faultily copied from the Third Holy Grail War in Fuyuki. As the third Grail War came to an end, an organization based in the United States had magi separate from the London-based Mage Association as members took data from Fuyuki’s Grail War and planned their ritual.
As the landmark for seventy years passed, they used the city of Snowfield as the sacred ground to conduct another Holy Grail War.
However, They were unable to successfully copy every aspect of the ritual, which led to it acting only as an imitation that has lost the Saber class and therefore, allowed for the summoning of strange Servants due to the definition of a “hero” being blurred.
What Happens in Episode 2?
The plot of episode 2 of Fate/strange Fake involves the Mage’s Association sending Langal and his pupil Faldeus to investigate the status of a Holy Grail War in Snowfield. However, things turn out to be way more adverse than they seem when Faldeus turns out to be a spy for the US Organization. He arranges it so that Langal is sniped upon arrival.
After which, Faldeus then announces that the war is real and wants to “advertise” it to the Association.
